Arendt's phenomenology of political forgiveness

Abstract Forgiveness is often understood as a primarily interpersonal experience, type of moral response to wrongdoing that has particular effects on the personal relationship between one wronged and wrongdoer. However, some have also attempted defend another kind forgiveness, takes place in public applies wider range practices specifically political context. That such concept forgiveness possible not particularly controversial. But way this unified—if it unified—with been clarified. By approaching question phenomenologically, becomes root both political, more fundamental context shared human world. Hannah Arendt's analysis does just this. In so doing, Arendt accounts for role private relationships which fundamentally political.
